The genre that I will be showing through my music video will be Pop. This genre includes singers (mainly female) like Katy Perry, Rihanna and Britney Spears. These are current and the most popular female pop artists. The thing that made me want to do a Pop music video was the specific style that all pop videos have eg; fun, exciting, entertaining and energetic. I think that all the concepts of the artists and their videos would really relate to my target audience – as they are used to seeing this sort of thing and would be immediately drawn to it. Although it was challenging for me to find an appropriate pop song from a female artist that wasn’t already mainstream, I finally found a song that fitted the main idea that I wanted to communicate through my video. Pop videos are generally performance based with a huge reference to the artist, consistently having the artist on camera or in the centre of the videos attention. The main idea of making a pop music video is for the artist to be portrayed as very ‘popular’ showing a lot of character and personalities through their videos.
